Support A Working Widowed Woman to Increase Their Household Income

In Tanzanian culture, the husband of the family is usually the main or only provider for the household. If he passes, the wife and children of the household really struggle financially. Once a woman is widowed, she either gets help from local families which is not reliable and consistant or opts to start making a living for herself and her children for survival. Most women do not have a strong educational or working background and they rely on local trades and supplies to make a living. At COZ Foundation, we have a database of financially struggling widows in Tanzania and Zanzibar that really try to go outside and make a living despite having any experience or education. The three main industries the women get involved in are Agriculture, Fishing & Entrepreneurship and this is what COZ Foundation focuses on. COZ Foundation has created unique schemes to boost and support these women so that they can advance their trades so they can increase income for their struggling households. We create training programs, provide special resources and help them access a wider market to increase their income. Through this support, we can foster gender equality, alleviate poverty, and create a more inclusive and sustainable society amongst widowed women in Tanzania.
